How to set up Garage Stock Ledger (version 1.0.0) and run your parts stores with it. Everything happens on your phone; nothing needs an account.
1. Create a ledger
On first start choose “Create a ledger” and a layout: empty, workshop stores (two racks, a drawer cabinet, a bulk area) or mobile van. Or load the example workshop to look around first.
2. Set up locations
In the Locations tab add racks, shelves, bins, boxes, drawers, cabinets or areas. The code you give each one builds the location code (for example A-2-04). “Add numbered bins” creates several at once. Deleting a location moves what was in it one level up.
3. Add parts
In the Parts tab tap “New part”: name, part number, category, unit, location, minimum stock, ‘order up to’ and, if you track costs, the unit cost ex or inc VAT (Settings).
4. Book the opening stock
Either receive a delivery with all parts, or open each part and use More › Correct stock with the reason “Opening stock”.
5. Receive and issue
Receive: date, supplier, delivery note or invoice, one line per part with quantity and price. Issue: job card number, vehicle registration and the parts. The app asks before you issue more than is booked.
6. Reorder
Parts at or below the minimum appear on the Stores tab and in More › Reorder list. Tick parts to mark them ordered or to book their delivery; share the list as text or PDF.
7. Count
Open a location and tap “Count”, or use Count on the Stores tab. Enter what is on the shelf, review the differences, choose a reason and complete. Blind count (Settings) hides the booked quantity while counting.
8. Export and back up
More › Export makes CSV files of stock levels, ledger lines (this month, last 30 or 90 days, all or chosen dates) and counts, and a PDF stock report. More › Data makes or restores a JSON backup – there is no cloud, so keep your own copy.
Questions
Does it need an internet connection or an account?
No. Everything works offline and there is no sign-up. The app does not even have the permission to use the internet.
Can I use it without costs and VAT?
Yes. Turn off “Track unit costs and stock value” in Settings and the app only counts quantities.
Can several people share one ledger?
There is no cloud sync. You can move a ledger to another phone with the JSON backup (More › Data), or send CSV files to whoever needs them.
Does it scan barcodes?
No. The app needs no camera. Parts are found by name, part number, bin code or #tag.
Can I try it with data first?
Yes. Load the example workshop – invented parts, suppliers and jobs – and remove it again in one tap.
What does it cost?
Nothing. No adverts, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases.
